Call for Applications: The International Meeting 2012 in Auschwitz and Dachau

The Maximilian-Kolbe-Werk organizes an International Meeting 2012 entitled “Remembering and Commemorating in the Age of Web 2.0” with young people from Germany, Poland and other Eastern and Central European countries and the survivors of the Nazi concentration camps and ghettos. The project is divided into two parts and will take place from 23th to 28th of January 2012 in Oświęcim/ Auschwitz (Poland) and from 26th to 30th of March 2012 in Dachau (Germany).

January 27, 1945 saw the liberation of  the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The very first concentration camp was built by the Nazi regime twelve years earlier, on March 22, 1933, in Dachau. These places of horror serve as reminders of our obligation. Both dates are an occasion to discuss the questions of remembrance and commemoration as well as the role of the media in the teaching of history. Further information about the project can be obtained in German, Polish and Russian.

The online application form is now available in the following versions:

The deadline for submitting applications is November 30, 2011. Applicants will be informed of the results in the first week of December 2011.
